How the Wandsworth Council spends your Council Tax (pdf)

Council Tax (Domestic)

Council Tax in the borough is calculated based on which band your property falls in, this is determined by the value of the property as a 1st April 1991.  The other factor that determines your council tax is whether it is in the main part of the borough or the commons area, which is an additional amount paid for Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators areas. This is a charge on top of the Council and Greater London Authority charge.

Wandsworth Borough offers a 25% discount if the property is occupied by a single person, or is unoccupied.

Property prices

Property prices within Wandsworth borough have behaved in the same way as house prices all over London, a quick paced decrease in prices in 2008 after a peak in 2007. In 2009 it appears that the pace of the slowdown in property prices is decelerating and many sources are hopeful that property prices will regain some of the losses, or at least begin to level out over the course of the year.

However, it must be noted that some of the property purchases currently taking places could be repossessed properties being purchased by long term investor and not necessarily a mass return to the property market.
